Problem Note 71133: The SAS® Studio (Enterprise) Background Job Status window displays incorrect information after you sign out and then sign in to SAS® Studio
After you sign out from and then sign in to SAS Studio Enterprise edition, the Background Job Status window might display an empty or incorrect list of jobs. There are two scenarios in which this issue occurs.
Scenario 1
The SAS Studio Enterprise installation’s topology includes more than one middle tier and a load balancer is in use. If the load balancer routes the second sign in to a middle tier that is different from the first sign in, then the job status list is not maintained.
There are two workarounds for this scenario:
- Disable all but one of the middle tiers.
- Use an alternative SAS scheduling utility such as SAS® Management Console or another method described in to submit the background jobs.
Scenario 2
The SAS Web Application Server is restarted.
The workaround is to use an alternative SAS scheduling utility such as SAS Management Console or another method described in to submit the background jobs.
Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
Post Hot Fix Instructions
After you install the hot fix, the Background Job Status window reflects all the currently submitted jobs in Scenario 1. If the load balancer routes the second sign in to a middle tier that is different from the first sign in, then an attempt to cancel the job via the Background Job Status window generates the following error:
The job is running on a different server from the SAS Studio session. Contact your SAS administrator to cancel the job.
In this scenario, your SAS administrator must cancel the job. Your administrator needs both the process ID and the server name of the job, which are available from the Background Job Properties window.
